Today, Saturday 18th September 2021 is the World Cleanup Day! From now until the end of September, we are encouraging individuals around the world to get outside and clean up their communities.
Have fun with your family, group of friends or coworkers. You can make a difference by cleaning up your favorite park, trail or space in your community.
Held annually on the third Saturday in September, World Cleanup Day addresses the issue of mishandled waste and litter across the globe. On this international day of service, we get communities involved to keep their own neighborhoods clean and sustainable. Even amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, hundreds of thousands participants helped clean up parks, beaches, rivers, and forests around the world in 2020. Overall, volunteers were able to pick up 43k tonnes of trash.
This year, in honor of World Cleanup Day, EARTHDAY.ORG has partnered with World Cleanup Day in conjunction with Let’s Do It World, National CleanUp Day, and Keep America Beautiful on September 18, 2021 through EARTHDAY.ORG’S flagship volunteering program, The Great Global Cleanup. From now until the end of September, we are encouraging individuals around the world to get outside and clean up their communities as millions did in 2020.

This pandemic has not stopped the pollution of our environment — and it won’t stop us either. Cleanups are still possible, and together we can make a real difference in the health of our planet.
Only together can we clean up the world.
